About Chasing Owls

I've been blogging for years...elsewhere though. Sometimes it just feels like it's time to start off fresh, you know? After a few years, you realize you have changed so much and while yes, reading through old blog posts can be "good for the soul", it's also nice to start off new - new blog name, new purpose.

The name Chasing Owls was a collaboration between myself and a very special someone in my life. I always find it difficult to think of a "good name" for a personal blog. You want it to be about you; you want it to represent who you are. Owls represent knowledge and wisdom and these are things that I seek on a daily basis. I see life as a journey and yes, I am a believer that the journey is always more important than the destination. We learn through our experiences in life about ourselves and others and therefore, Chasing Owls was born today - August 26, 2012. This is a blog about life...my life. It is a life filled with love, family, few faithful friends, work as a teacher/ facilitator/ babysitter, knowledge-seeking, little adventures, food, and life with two cuddly cats.

In getting to know me, you will see that I am someone who is real. I love, I laugh, I cry, I get angry. I am also a lover of many, many things. When in situations where I have to describe myself, I sometimes have a tough time narrowing things down because I've always liked learning and growing and changing.

Some things that I like include: being in love (awww!), spending time with family, working (yes, I'm not even kidding), lattes, makeup (especially my NAKED palette from Urban Decay), being outdoors, learning new things, traveling, photography, food (mmm...desserts!), sunflowers, jewelry, girly things, the beach, technology, and blogging (go figure!).

Some things I dislike include: most vegetables, giving up, dirty nails, football (sorry, football fans!), fake "bling" (haha), mushrooms, ketchup / mustard / mayo, being around drunk people, lies, cheating, Hummers, sharks, gators, cockroaches (aaaah!), being sweaty, heights, roller coasters, and carrying cash.

Oh yeah... I also absolutely freaking ADORE reading inspirational quotes about life, love, friendship, etc...

"In three words, I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on." -Robert Frost
"It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not." -Andre Gide
"Everything you can imagine is real." -Pablo Picasso
"Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody." -Stephen Chbosky
"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth." -Jess Scott
